SSU Campus Ministry offers Wisdom Distilled from the Daily-Living the Rule of St. Benedict Today, by
Joan Chittister, OSB. This program explores the Benedictine way of life that is full of wisdom for daily living.
The group will discuss how to live a balanced life that incorporates leisure, work, prayer and hospitality.
The Benedictine spiritual guidelines have endured centuries and it is a wholesome balanced way of life.
Are you sometimes troubled by thoughts that are consuming and you cannot get rid of? In a group setting
at the Campus Ministry House we will work our way though Thoughts Matter-The Practice of the Spiritual
Life, by Mary Margaret Funk, O. S B. Participants will learn mental discipline based on the writings and life
of the Dessert Fathers. We do not have to look towards the East for spiritual growth when we have the
ancient Christian practices of these early Christians.
If you have been interested in meditation, this group is for you! Sadhana-A Way To God, by Anthony de
Mellow introduces Christian Exercises in Eastern Form. The group will learn and experience awareness
exercises to become aware of the inner life. You will learn a new way to pray that opens the mystery to
prayer. Through these practices you can connect to the soul of religion that lies deep within. The exercises
you learn and practice are foundational to a contemplative life.
Companion in Christ "Deepening Our Prayer (six weeks is a spiritual formation program designed for
small groups and published by the Upper Room). Praying your Life, making a prayer bracelet. Group
meets two or three times depending on the need of the group.
